Eligibility and Submission Requirements

  • Published in a peer-reviewed journal in calendar year 2019
  • Performed at a U.S. institution
  • Team representative must attend CR Forum Top 10 Event (April 14, 2020) as well as the Translational Science Annual Meeting (April 15-17) in Washington, DC to:
    • Participate in congressional visits;
    • Present/share research findings;
    • Receive award in person.

    Studies that involve more than one institution may be submitted. Only one nomination letter from the person nominating the study is necessary. 


  • Studies utilizing human cells or tissues or human subjects only
  • Patient-oriented research
    • Mechanisms of human disease
    • Therapeutic interventions
    • Clinical trials
    • Development of new technologies
  • Epidemiological & behavioral studies
  • Outcomes & health services projects
  • Human physiology studies


  1. Completed nomination form
  2. Letter of nomination (1-page) from expert in the field of study or the dean/senior official at a host institution describing the research accomplishment
  3. Three study summaries (300 words each)
    1. Study findings in non-scientific terms
    2. Specific biological innovation of the study
    3. Potential impact on patient care and/or how the findings contributed to improved understanding
  4. PDF of published or unpublished article.
  5. If unpublished, letter or e-mail from reputable journal confirming publication prior to January 1, 2020.
