Dear Friends of PCORI Reauthorization,

Today, the House Energy and Commerce passed H.R. 2328, the “Community Health Investment, Modernization, and Excellence Act” that includes a provision to reauthorize PCORI for another three years. The bill was adopted by voice vote. The FOPR sign-on letter was entered into the record by Health Subcommittee Chair Anna Eshoo (D-CA).

Reps. Eshoo, Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Kurt Schrader (D-OR), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and Nanette Barragan (D-CA) spoke in support of the bill. Congressman Bilirakis specifically mentioned PCORI’s ability to address and treat some of America’s biggest healthcare issues such as hypertension, prostate disease, hepatitis C. He also mentioned the recent success of PEDSnet in supporting pediatric research institutions. Congresswoman Blunt Rochester mentioned that she would like to see PCORI become more of a long term reauthorization. Congressman Schrader mentioned that as an original cosponsor of PCORI, he is pleased to see how far it has come and is looking forward to seeing how far PCORI can go in addressing rising prescription drug prices.

The full Committee is expected to mark up the package sometime next week. We encourage you to reach out to the members of the full Committee listed here this week and early next week. There are tools on the website to help you with your outreach here.

Thank you, and we look forward to continuing to work with you on this important issue.
