The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has published the final rule delaying compliance of the revised Common Rule to January 2019.

The revisions are meant to simplify the process by which researchers obtain consent from research subjects to use their data and biospecimens.

The final rule has been delayed many times. It now includes a concrete compliance timeline for researchers.
