Groundbreaking clinical research honored by Clinical Research Forum

WASHINGTON, D.C. - April 12, 2016 - The Clinical Research Forum recognizes the

year's ten most outstanding research papers written by teams from across the nation

at its fifth annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The ten winning papers were chosen based on their degree of innovation from a pool

of more than 40 nominations from 30 research and academic health centers

nationwide, including Case Western Reserve University, University of Pennsylvania,

Yale University, and more.

The top three distinguished clinical research achievement awards were given to

papers that focused on a systolic blood pressure intervention trial, cavity shave

margins in breast cancer, and over diagnosis of Clostridium difficile Infection. The

Forum believes these papers represent the best and brightest work in the field, and

lead to advancements in medicine that change lives and patient outcomes worldwide.

"These exemplars of clinical research demonstrate the development of insights into

disease processes and their diagnosis, treatment, and prevention," said Harry P.

Selker, MD, MSPH, Chairman of the Clinical Research Forum Board of Directors.

"These awards showcase the innovative and productive research of teams across the

country that have shown great promise for impact on health."
